OUR PASSION
PLYWOOD.CH produces handmade freeride skis in Switzerland. Our skis unite hand picked high performance materials and a deep respect for the environment. We don`t just sell skis, we build them.
In order to provide the best skis available we decided to develop our own products, in-house, fully independent and all from scratch.
As a consequence we gained a profound understanding of ski design, which enabled us to come up with new ideas and walk new paths. Thanks to the in-house R&D and production we fully control the quality of our products – because we care about what we produce.
OUR STORY
It all started with the construction of slalomskateboards in 2003. Back then we gained first experience in the construction of casting molds to press stuff in and performed our first experiments messing around with fibreglass and epoxy.
The brand name PLYWOOD came into existence as a consequence of 1mm birch plywood being the main component for the construction of these skatedecks. Over time the pitchfork, PLYWOODs logo, arose out of the Y in PLYWOOD.
In 2006 PLYWOOD stepped up to the next level and decided to face the challenge of ski design. What began as an idea has now evolved to a well-chosen product range of freeride specific skis.
OUR VALUES
PLYWOOD aims to create unique and honest products. We value nature and “Back to the Woods” is meant literally: By using wood as natural and renewable ressource we are able to replace more than 1.2kg of petroleum based plastics in the making of a pair of ski in comparison to mass produced skis.
In combination with the solid and durable construction this helps to minimize the ecological footprint of our skis.
